Accessibility

Our Commitment

Charlotte Jiu-Jitsu Academy is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people of all abilities. We work to conform with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, the standard recommended by the U.S. Department of Justice for ADA compliance.

We believe everyone should be able to find a class, read about our coaches, and book a free trial, regardless of how they browse the web.

What We Do

  • Semantic HTML: every page uses proper landmarks (header, nav, main, footer) and heading hierarchy so assistive technology can navigate the site predictably.
  • Alt text on images: all meaningful images include descriptive alternative text. Decorative images are marked as such so they don't clutter screen reader output.
  • Full keyboard navigation: every link, button, form field, and menu can be reached and operated with a keyboard alone. There are no keyboard traps.
  • Visible focus indicators: interactive elements show a clear gold outline when focused, so you always know where you are on the page.
  • Color contrast (AAA where possible): body text passes WCAG AAA contrast against its background. Our gold accent passes AAA against black and AA against white.
  • Screen reader support: buttons and controls have descriptive ARIA labels, dynamic content uses live regions, and hidden helper text is provided where icons stand alone.
  • Skip-to-content link: the first focusable element on every page lets keyboard users jump past the header straight to the main content.
  • Reduced motion support: animations and parallax effects are disabled automatically when your operating system requests reduced motion.
  • Mobile accessibility: touch targets meet the 48×48 px minimum (WCAG 2.5.5), and the layout reflows down to 320 px without horizontal scrolling.

Ongoing Audits

This site is regularly audited and improved. We test with keyboard navigation, screen readers (VoiceOver and NVDA), and automated accessibility tooling. Accessibility is not a one-time checklist. It's an ongoing commitment we revisit with every change we ship.

Reporting an Issue

If you experience any difficulty accessing our site, please contact us at info@cltbjj.com or call (980) 999-0255. We take accessibility seriously and will work to resolve any issues promptly.

When reporting an issue, it helps to include:

  • The page URL where you encountered the problem
  • A description of the issue
  • The browser, operating system, and any assistive technology you were using

Standards We Follow

Our target conformance level is WCAG 2.1 Level AA. Where reasonable we exceed this. For example, our body text contrast ratio is well above the AA minimum and meets AAA. We also follow guidance from the W3C Accessible Rich Internet Applications (ARIA) specification for interactive components.
