Open Mat

No politics.
Just rolls.

Saturday and Sunday, the mats are open. Members, drop-ins, and people who train all over the world end up here. Previous experience required.

Drop In This Weekend

What it is.

Open mat is unstructured training. No class, no curriculum, nobody assigning your partners. Drop-ins love it because it is easy to walk into and hard to leave. Drill what you're working on or roll until you're done. Gi or No-Gi. When the room fills up we ask everyone to follow the "one up, one down" rule and leave the stand up for quieter days. The goal is simple: get better, together.

Saturday

9 am - 12 pm

Three hours of rolls. Gi or No-Gi, your choice. Let's gooooo.

Sunday

11 am - 1 pm

Two hours. Come sharpen the game you've been drilling all week.

Holiday Hours

On bank holidays, open mat replaces regular classes. Holidays include New Year's Day, MLK Day, Presidents' Day, Memorial Day, Juneteenth, Independence Day, Labor Day, Indigenous Peoples' Day, Veterans Day, and Thanksgiving Day. CJJA is closed on Christmas Day.

Holiday changes are posted in Wodify at least 1 week ahead. Follow @charlottejiujitsuacademy on Instagram for updates.

Free for Everyone. Always Has Been.

Members, visitors, traveling competitors. Doesn't matter. Open mat at CJJA is free and has been since day one. Sign the waiver, get on the mat. New to Jiu-Jitsu? Start with your two free classes instead. See the full class schedule or read common questions.
