CHARLOTTE JIU-JITSU ACADEMY
Black belt 2021
May 15th, 2021 Aaron Kampe received his Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu. Aaron has been an integral part of Charlotte Jiu-Jitsu Academy since its inception.
Aaron started wrestling early on as a child and has remained grappling to become outstanding in both Gi and No-Gi. If you’ve shared the mats with Aaron you already know. He’s also an experienced competitor having won several IBJJF and NAGA competitions, and even an ADCC regional event. You will commonly find Aaron in our No-Gi rash guard and shorts looking to be the last one rolling whenever he’s at the academy.
I could go on about Aaron’s Jiu-Jitsu forever, which I know he would love. However, I’ll just leave you with a few intriguing and enjoyable facts about our new black belt, Aaron.
Aaron is a Professor at UNC Charlotte.
Enforcer believes he’s a Jedi while rolling and uses “the force” but also want’s to be a ninja turtle.
Aaron does stand-up comedy. Even while being promoted to black belt.
He would attempt to wristlock his own mother.
Aaron loves exotic flowers and anything gardening related. especially things with thorns that may attack his feet.
Aaron an incredible training partner and friend!
I’ll leave you with my personal favorite. Aaron has never purchased a Gi, belt, rash guard, spats, or No-Gi shorts in the 20+ years he’s grappled. You might wonder how on Earth he’s a black belt yet has never purchased any of the above items. Next time you see him you should ask him.
My future promises to be filled with wrist locks, heel hooks, crucifixes, and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Your future in Jiu-Jitsu is bright. I’m looking forward to shouting breathe, underhook, MG pass, do the thing, and let’s goooooo from the sidelines. It’s been an honor and privilege to be your coach and friend.
Congratulations Aaron, I’m so proud of you!
