CHARLOTTE JIU-JITSU ACADEMY

Black belt 2021

August 21st, 2019 James Walsh received his Black Belt in Jiu-Jitsu on the podium after winning 2019 IBJJF Masters Worlds.

About james

aka Jimbo

Prof. Julio Cesar Pereira, Prof. Robson de Lima Rodrigues (Mau Mau) and I all tied the belt on James aka Jimbo that day.  Jimbo came to Charlotte Jiu-Jitsu Academy via Mau Mau’s Academy in Boston. He wasted no time in smashing, sweeping, and kimuraing his way into our hearts.

Jimbo has had the opportunity to train with many world champions and elite practitioners in both the US and Brazil.  Jimbo isn’t just a big man with a huge heart for Jiu-Jitsu.  He helps anyone that is willing to work hard and apply themselves.  Whatever Jimbo puts his mind to he will undoubtedly achieve.  The world needs more Jimbos in it.  Okay, on to some fun facts.

My friend Jimbo does not like flying but flies more than anyone else I know.

If you’re ever in Boston with Jimbo there’s no better tour guide. 10 out of 10 will do again.

Every year at IBJJF Adult Worlds you can find Jimbo on the sidelines cheering for his GFT teammates.

BBQs at Jimbos’s last all day and late into the night, possibly into the next day.

Jimbo eats like a bird.  I still don’t understand how he’s a giant!

The next time you see Jimbo ask him how upset he was with Mau Mau and I just prior to stepping on the mats and competing.  Ahhh good times.

Love you Jimbo, you’re the man. I’m so glad you walked through the doors of CJJA so many years ago.

I look forward to many years of being squished by you Jimbo.  It’s been an honor and a privilege to be part of your Jiu-Jitsu, your co-coach, and your friend.  Your new school Arte Suave Jiu-Jitsu Academy is incredible with amazing students of your own. They are lucky to have you!

Congratulations Jimbo, I’m so proud of you!
