Lance "SharkBear" Breeden

No-Gi Fundamentals Coach · Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Brown Belt

About

Lance Breeden has been part of Charlotte Jiu-Jitsu Academy for nine years, growing from training partner to IBJJF World Champion to one of the academy's core coaches.

In 2022, Lance won the IBJJF World Masters Championship at purple belt, earning gold in the Master 3 Medium-Heavy division. That same year, he medaled at the IBJJF No-Gi World Championship, taking bronze at brown belt. He returned to the No-Gi Worlds podium again in 2023 with another bronze, and his first major IBJJF medal came at the 2019 World Masters as a blue belt, where he took silver. Four IBJJF major championship medals across three belt ranks, all representing CJJA.

Now a brown belt, Lance teaches No-Gi Fundamentals. His coaching reflects his competition path: methodical progression, heavy pressure, and technique built to work against anyone regardless of size.

Off the Mat

Off the mat, Lance is an avid gardener and cooks up some of the meanest steaks you'll ever eat. And no matter what color belt he's wearing, he'll always be a purple belt to Coach. #ForeverPurpleBelt
